RESEARCH & INNOVATION
Ask a useful question.
Find a usable answer.
Applied research and product development that connect a clear question with evidence and a practical next step.

THE PURPOSE
Good decisions begin
with the right brief.
Innovation is most useful when it answers a real production or product question. OWC combines scientific thinking with the practical context needed to turn a finding into a decision.
WHERE WE CAN HELP
Support in practice.
Applied trial design
Define the question, comparison, measurements and practical limits of a vineyard or winery trial.
Sensory & analytical interpretation
Connect what can be measured with what can be perceived and the production decision at stake.
Product & process development
Explore changes in wine style, processing or production, with clear criteria for evaluating progress.
No- and low-alcohol wine
Support research and development questions around alcohol reduction, composition and sensory character.
HOW WE WORK
Clear thinking.
Practical progress.
Ask the question
Be specific about the change you want to understand and the decision it informs.
Build the comparison
Choose a feasible trial and useful measurements.
Interpret for use
Explain what the evidence supports and what still needs investigation.
SELECTED PUBLICATION

production question.

A little more detail.
Do you work with research partners?
Yes. OWC can contribute to the technical brief, trial design and interpretation alongside laboratories, universities and industry partners.
Can trials be carried out in a commercial winery?
Often, yes. The design needs to respect production constraints while keeping the comparison useful. That balance should be agreed before the trial begins.
Is no- and low-alcohol wine part of your expertise?
Yes. This is an area of applied research and product development within OWC’s wider wine science expertise.
A CLEAR NEXT STEP
Let’s discuss your next question.
A new vineyard. A wine that needs direction. An estate with a bigger ambition. Start with a conversation.
